Lionsgate and Nicholas Sparks Productions have confirmed that the next film-adaptation from the popular author already has a director attached, that role went to Ross Katz.
Katz will take on the challenge of bringing the novel “The Choice” to the big screen, though a release window was not given at this time. Attached to produce the film are Nicholas Sparks, Theresa Park and Peter Safran along with their included production companies.
The last we heard from the project was when Lionsgate Film acquired the North American and U.K. distribution rights, that was back in June of this year. We do know that the film will be shot in Wilmington, North Carolina and that production is set to begin in early October of 2014.
The film adaptation has been a long time coming, fans of the author most-likely read the novel when it was first published back in 2007. In this adaptation Bryan Sipe was selected to write the screenplay. If you are keeping track this is the 11th film based on a novel written by Nicholas Sparks.
As for the novel itself, it tells the story of two neighbors living in North Carolina. In true Sparks fashion they begin a romantic relationship that plays out throughout the story.
