J.K. Rowling’s new Harry Potter short-story intros Celestina Warbeck
This is a terrific summer to be a Harry Potter fan, because J.K. Rowling has been releasing new Potter-lore almost every month. As a recap of everything that has happened over the summer, here’s a short list.
Back in June Rowling surprised fans with a tale of an older Harry Potter. He was 34-years-old in the story and the tale had Potter and his friends reuniting and catching up on what has happened over the past few decades.
Two weeks ago J.K. Rowling wrote a letter to Cassidy Stay, in the voice of Dumbledore, after the young child lost her her family in a horrific shooting.
Now today, J.K. Rowling released a new story AND a new-ish character, Celestina Warbeck. Though she seems to be a minor character from the series, she was inspired by the Welsh singer Shirley Bassey according to Rowling. The story gives Warbeck a bit more backstory and development.
Perhaps she is in the new ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ film that is on its way?
The story was released on the official “Harry Potter” site Pottermore (link below) and it was also made available to “The Today Show” for all the world to see. Rowling stated, “Celestina Warbeck is one of my favourite ‘off-stage’ characters in the “Harry Potter” series,” she explained. “I stole her first name from a friend with whom I worked, years ago, at Amnesty International’s Headquarters in London; ‘Celestina’ was simply begging to be scooped up and attached to a glamorous witch.”
You may know Warbeck as “Singing Sorceress” at least that’s how she is known in the book. She has an album with “You Stole My Cauldron But You Can’t Have My Heart” at the “Harry Potter” theme park in Orlando, Fl.
New songs from the mythical wizard include “A Cauldron Full of Hot, Strong Love” and “You Charmed the Heart Right Out of Me.”
