Disney’s director for Frozen is going after A Wrinkle in Time
Disney is broadening the company’s arsenal within the Young-Adult/film-adaptation business, and with ‘Divergent’ and ‘Hunger Games’ doing so well, you can’t blame them.
The studio is throwing a few very popular names into the mix to get things started. According to sources, Jennifer Lee is set to write a new screenplay based on the classic children’s book ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ for Disney. Of the online sources, Variety was one of the first to report the connection.
You may recognize Lee’s most recent work ‘Frozen,’ a film that she co-wrote and directed for Walt Disney Studios, and now her star-power will be focused on bringing the classic children’s book ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ straight to theaters for Disney.
The original novel (a favorite of mine) was released in 1962 by Madeline L’Engle . The story follows two siblings and a mutual friend as they travel through space and time to find their father who went missing.
There are four books in the series, meaning about 6 movies according to the current YA film-adaptation standards.
