Disney’s live-action Jungle Book picks Bill Murray for Baloo the bear
Few actors are actually as lovable as the characters that they are chosen to play, but Bill Murray and Baloo the bear are comparable on all fronts. Disney has confirmed that Murray has taken the role in the film of voicing the bear in the upcoming live-action remake of ‘The Jungle Book’.
Walt Disney Studios made the announcement Friday evening. Other casting news previously released from the studio include Christopher Walken will voice King Louie, and Giancarlo Esposito will voice Akela. Scarlett Johansson (Kaa, the python), Idris Elba (Shere Khan), Lupita Nyong’o (Rakcha the wolf-cub’s mother) and Ben Kingsley (Bagheera)
Phil Harris was the famous actor that voiced the 1967 animated feature. Harris died in 1995. Mowgli will be played by 10-year-old newcomer Neel Sethi (shown above) from our own New York. This will be Sethi’s debut role, with Jon Favreau directing.
The film will release on October 9, 2015.
