Quite a few announcements came out today from Sony Pictures, the studio announced release dates for the upcoming “Uncharted” film and the new films starring everyone’s favorite Spider-Man.
This of course is just a few of the initial announcement made at this year’s San Diego comic con, more are expected to take place throughout the next few days. The next Spider-Man film will feature the “Sinister Six” villains. It will come from writer-director Drew Goddard, but this is only the beginning of the Spider-Man expansion expected from the studio.
Fans of the popular comic book hero can expect to see the film starting November 11, 2016. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project. The third installment of The Amazing Spider-Man won’t launch in theaters until 2018.
As for fans of the videogame franchise Uncharted, you can now set a reminder for June 10, 2016. If that date sounds familiar it was once the release date for the highly anticipated release of The Amazing Spider-Man 3. The film will be based on the PS3 and soon to be PS4 game franchise of the same name, and will be directed by Seth Gordon.
The latest version of the screenplay for the film was written by David Guggenheim. As of right now no casting decisions have been made on who will play Nathan Drake, or his cohorts.
During a press event Sony Pictures’ Doug Belgrad stated, “With Sinister Six in the hands of writer-director Drew Goddard, we feel extremely confident placing the film on a prime date in 2016.”
Belgrad added, “June 10 is a great date for Uncharted. It’s just the right place for this exciting action-adventure film.”
More information on all the films listed above will be released as they move further along into production.
