Just a few days after Marvel announced that a woman will be taking Thor’s name and taking up the hammer forming a new direction for the comic-book series, the company announced that a new Captain America is on the way as well.
Marvel made the announcement on the Colbert Report, just a few moments ago. In the comics, the current Captain America (also known as Steve Rogers) will retire as Captain America and Sam Wilson, (previously known as Falcon) will become the first black Captain America since the character’s creation.
Falcon has always been a trusted friend and ally of Captain America, and many believed he would be taking up the shield when Steve Rogers called it quits, and the were right. More information on the new storyline, when it will be released in the comics and other information will be released over the coming weeks. Congratulations Falcon.
