Marvel announces that Thor will now be a woman, in the comics
As promised yesterday, Marvel had a very big announcement to make on ‘The View,’ and although that venue didn’t make any sense when it was first announced, it makes a little more sense now. The women-centric talk-show was the location that Marvel chose to announce that Thor, the mighty Thunder God himself, will now be a female character in the upcoming comics. The exact dates of the change were not disclosed yet.
The news came during today’s episode with moderator Whoopi Goldberg, co-hosts Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy and guest co-host Ana Belaval.

We imagine that Thor will still stay the same, but his powers will instead go to a female-lead, though the exact details were not given by Marvel on the series. The Tweet above went out just as the announcement was released. More information will be released about the change shortly from ABC.
The first Thor dates back to 1962, created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby. The new character will go by Thor, not Girl Thor, or Lady Thor or Thorlene.
