James Patterson’s ZOO to hit Netflix in 2015 following CBS showing

We reported earlier in the week that CBS picked up the rights to make an event-series out of James Patterson’s ‘ZOO’ novel, now the company announced with Netflix that the popular video-streaming service has secured the exclusive U.S. subscription video on demand rights.
CBS will make the straight-to-series order for 13 episodes of ZOO, an event drama based on the bestselling novel of the same name by James Patterson, for broadcast in summer 2015.
The full season of ZOO will be available exclusively to U.S. Netflix members immediately following its run on the CBS Television Network next summer.
ZOO is a global thriller about a wave of violent animal attacks against humans across the planet. As the assaults become more cunning, coordinated and ferocious, a young renegade biologist is thrust into the race to unlock the pandemic’s mystery before there’s no place left for people to hide.
“We’re excited to expand our relationship with Netflix as our premium subscription partner on ZOO,” said Scott Koondel, Chief Corporate Licensing Officer, CBS Corporation. “This is another creative model to build a summer programming event on CBS and deliver Netflix members an addictive thrill ride series based on a story by one of the world’s biggest authors.”

Jeff Pinkner, Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec and Scott Rosenberg wrote the script and are executive producers with James Mangold, Cathy Konrad, James Patterson, Bill Robinson, Leopoldo Gout and Steve Bowen.
The book was originally published in September 2012 by Little, Brown and Company and was a #1 New York Times bestseller. It’s been translated into six languages and has sold more than four million copies worldwide.
