Nicole Kidman, Colin Firth’s Before I go to Sleep first trailer
The idea of memory-loss as a plot-mechanic is nothing new to cinema, but the new film adaptation of SJ Watson’s bestseller hopes to stir-up a few chills this fall. Following the same thread as ‘Memento’ and even ’50 First Dates’ this film is still rather unique, starring the talented Nicole Kidman (who proved her ability to lead a horror-thriller with her film ‘The Others’) and the always popular Colin Firth.
This marks the first trailer for the film, called “Before I Go to Sleep,” based on the novel of the same name. Studio Canal has the film releasing just in time for the early-fall, back-to-school crowd in September and you can watch the first trailer below. In the film a woman (Kidman) wakes up every day, remembering nothing as a result of a traumatic accident in her past. One day, new terrifying truths emerge that force her to question everyone around her.
The screenplay to the film was written by Rowan Joffe, who also serves as director for this project. Mark Strong joins Kidman and Firth as well on-screen. Mystery-thriller fans can expect to catch the premiere in theaters on September 12.
Kidman fans have quite a few films to see over the next two-years; ‘Genius, ‘The Family Fang,’ and ‘Strangerland’ are gearing up to start shooting soon, while ‘Paddington’ and ‘Queen of the Desert’ are also expected to release later this year. As for Firth ‘Genius’ and ‘Eye in the Sky’ are both slated for 2015, while ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ releases this fall.
