Jay Baruchel to star in new FXX comedy Man Seeking Woman
Hot off his work on ‘How to Train Your Dragon 1 & 2’ popular actor Jay Baruchel will be starring in a new FXX comedy. The new series was confirmed earlier today, called “Man Seeking Woman,” the series is from former “Saturday Night Live” writer Simon Rich.
This show will be about dating (if the title didn’t give that away) while centering on Josh Greenberg (played Baruchel), who embarks on a search for his perfect romantic partner. “The Last Girlfriend on Earth” serves as the inspiration of the series, also written by Rich in the form of several short-stories. Rich also wrote the pilot, Jonathan Krisel directed.
Joining Jay will be Eric André, Britt Lower and Maya Erskine.
“Simon Rich has delivered a wholly original, hilarious and fantastical view of single life that features an incredible performance from Jay Baruchel,” said Nick Grad, President of Original Programming, FX Networks and FX Productions (a position he shares with Eric Schrier). “We feel this is the perfect fit for FXX and are thrilled to pick up the show.”
“I’m incredibly grateful to Jon Krisel, Jay Baruchel and Broadway Video for bringing my book to life,” said Rich. “Most of all, I’m thankful to John Landgraf and his team at FXX, who believed in us from the start and gave us great advice at every turn.”
The new series will take off in 2015 on FXX. Other shows that moved to the FX sister-channel are “Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and the cable syndication of “The Simpsons.”
