Far from Extinction, Transformers takes weekend box-office topping $100 million
Michael Bay’s latest installment to the Transformers’ franchise was a sweeping success domestically this weekend, pulling in about $100 million in just over 4,233 locations across the United States. The film was directed by Michael Bay off a script from Ehren Kruger and stars Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor.
The opening weekend was enough to beat out the second place feature ’22 Jump Street’ which pulled in another $15.4 million adding up to about $140 million domestically. Still remaining in the top-three, though it failed to hit number one against ’22 Jump Street’ in its opening weekend, was the Dreamworks sequel ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’ which took in another $13 million dollars, now with a total of $122 million.
Think Like A Man dropped from number-one to number four this week, taking in $10.4 million and bringing the domestic total to just above $48 million. Finishing out the top-ten was Disney’s Maleficent, the film continues to soar at the box-office bringing in $8.2 million dollars this weekend, totalling $202 million domestically.
