The name Andy Serkis is synonymous with motion-capture acting, he’s the leading authority on the subject after creating such characters as ‘Gollum’ and most recently Ceasar from ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’. He has voiced video-game characters, created CGI masterpieces and even had a few standard acting roles as well, but now he is coming to ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ and ‘Star Wars’ in two distinct ways.
While out promoting the new release of ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Serkis spoke briefly with Variety, where he not only confirmed that he has done some consulting for the motion-capture effects in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but he’s now a character as well.
You won’t just see him in Avengers 2, he is also taking part in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’. In the brief interview Serkis explained, “I’m playing a role (in both films). On ‘The Avengers,’ I’ve been working closely with Mark Ruffalo.” Just the idea of Serkis and ‘The Hulk’ working together should get fans excited, but Serkis stopped short of confirming that he meant ‘working with Ruffalo’ on the motion-capture acting for his Hulk role, or if Serkis’ character in the film was somehow relevant to The Hulk.
In any case having Serkis working behind the scenes. and appearing on film, in both ‘Star Wars’ and ‘The Avengers’ can only bring about good things for fans of both franchises.
