Think Like a Man lands at number one this weekend, 22 Jump Street and How to Train Your Dragon 2 remain strong
The last week in July isn’t as filled with high-octane blockbusters as other summer weeks, but if you are looking for a nice romantic-comedy or would like to catch a film released earlier in the summer, it’s normally a great time to hit the cineplex. This week ‘Think Like a Man’ easily took the number-one spot at the box-office according to the weekly estimates by Rentrax. The film took in about $30 million domestically this opening weekend, it premiered in about 2,225 locations across the United States.
Dropping to number two this week is the buddy-comedy ’22 Jump Street,’ the film took in $29 million at 3,306 locations domestically. That brings the two-week total for the film to just over $111 million. Jump Street beat out How To Train Your Dragon 2 last week, a surprise to many, but HTTYD2 still brought in a hefty $25.3 million this weekend, now with a total of $95 million here in the States.
Completing the top five is Jersey Boys from Warner Bros. Pictures, that film opened with $13.5 million in the United States, while Disney’s Maleficent took home another $13 million, surpassing a global box-office total of over $500 million according to estimates.
