Meryl Streep’s next role, opera star Maria Callas
Meryl Streep’s next project to hit theaters will be her role in ‘The Giver,’ but a new film detailing the life of opera star Maria Callas is the latest character that will Streep will take to the small-screen.
Callas is one of the most iconic stars to come out of the genre, the new film adaptation of the original play “Master Class” will hit the HBO TV network, this according to Page Six. The play was a Tony Award-winning production written by Terrence McNally and was highly-praised when it debuted on Broadway back in 1995.
The play was a story told through Callas’ memories as she reflected on her time spent as a teacher at the prestigious Juilliard School of performing arts in New York City. Mike Nichols has been named as the director, the two have a long history working together including “Heartburn,” “Silkwood” and “Postcards from the Edge” and another HBO hit “Angels in America.”
