Star Wars fans across the globe should be thrilled by the amount of tidbits that are being released concerning the upcoming films that are being put into production for the franchise. The latest headline confirmed today was that Josh Trank will be directing one of the future installments.
This standalone film is in addition to the new Star Wars trilogy that is already in production, Lucasfilm and Disney will produce multiple stand-alone movies, “that will offer new stories beyond the core Saga,” that will allow fans to discover new locals and enjoy even more from their favorite universe.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family,” says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. “He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”
Trank states, “The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood. The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time.”
Most people recognize Trank from his work on Chronicle, but he is currently working on ‘The Fantastic Four’ reboot with 20th Century Fox, expected to launch in 2015.
