Suki Waterhouse added to Divergent sequel, will play Marlene in ‘Insurgent’
Two new stars have been added to the upcoming follow-up to Divergent, Suki Waterhouse and Jonny Weston will both come into the series starting with the next film. The duo will join Shailene Woodley and Theo James, the stars of the first-installment, in ‘Insurgent’ expected out in 2015.
The film-franchise comes from the popular YA series already in production and shooting in Atlanta for the time being. This time around Robert Schwentke will be directing, the script was written by Brian Duffield and Akiva Goldsman.
The first film did amazingly well, taking in over $250 million worldwide, the second film will release in March the same timeframe that Divergent conquered at the box-office this year, the date is set at March 20, 2015.
Joining the above mentioned cast are returning members Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney and Zoe Kravitz. Also confirmed this time around ii Octavia Spencer, who will take on the role of Johanna.
Suki will play Marlene, though Weston’s exact role won’t be announced until final negotiations are complete. The series itself was written by Veronica Roth about a futuristic dystopia where people are grouped into factions based on their character traits.
