Charlie Cox to play Marvel’s Daredevil, a Netflix exclusive
Hoping to have a better showing than Ben Affleck, Charlie Cox will take on the role of the Marvel superhero ‘Daredevil,’ in the Netflix exclusive series of the same name.
Daredevil is known to most as Matt Murdock, a lawyer by trade but a superhero patrolling the dangerous streets for ne’er do wells at night. The 13-episode drama was confirmed by Marvel earlier this year, though the confirmation for the lead role didn’t happen until today.
Steven S. DeKnight is the official showrunner, it was former ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ and ‘Lost’ showrunner Drew Goddard, but since Goddard is handling the new ‘Sinister Six’ Spider-Man spinoff for Sony Pictures, DeKnight was brought on to replace him.
Fans of Cox might remember him best form HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, he played the role of Owen for two seasons on that show. This was just one of the many new series that are coming to Netflix. The multiple original series of live-action adventures include “Daredevil,” followed by “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage,” the epic will unfold over multiple years of original programming, taking Netflix members deep into the gritty world of heroes and villains of Hell’s Kitchen, New York. Netflix has committed to a minimum of four, thirteen episodes series and a culminating Marvel’s “The Defenders” mini-series event that reimagines a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.
