My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 confirmed, will star Nia Vardalos and John Corbett
Over a decade since the original comedy ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ dominated the box-office, HBO Films and Gold Circle are making a sequel. The confirmation came earlier today, with both Nia Vardalos and John Corbett (the original lovebirds of the first film) coming back for the second installment.
As for the film, Vardalos will write the script but she will also co-direct with Rita Wilson. Once again Tom Hanks will produce the film, along with Gary Goetzman. Executive producing credits go to Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, Norm Waitt, Steven Shareshian and Nia Vardalos herself. The full details of the film haven’t been released at this point, but the few details that were mentioned include the Portokalos family coming together once more as a family secret is revealed, there is also another wedding included in the story, one that is sure to be even louder than the first.
The actor/director/writer has been busy these past few years, she is currently promoting her New York Times bestseller hit “Instant Mom.”
Vardalos told the press, “Now that I’m experiencing motherhood, I’m ready to write the next chapter of my family story.” The popular comedic actor added, “Of course a few jaded folks in the press corps will claim I ran out of money or just want to kiss John Corbett again. One of these things is true.”
A release window and other details about the cast and film will be released at a later date.
