Star Trek 3 gets a director in Roberto Orci
Paramount Pictures has been keeping quiet on who will be directing the new ‘Star Trek’ film, but today we finally have an answer. At the helm for the third installment will be Roberto Orci. Previously J.J. Abrams famously rebooted the Star Trek series, but had to leave the project after the second film to start on his next space-themed project ‘Star Wars’. Although he won’t be directing, J.J. Abrams is still attached to be a producer for the film.
Roberto Orci will be writing the script, along with both J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay who have already been confirmed for the project. Coming back this time around will be Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto, but other casting decisions haven’t been confirmed at this point. Variety was the first to report the new director.
More information on the plot and other casting choices will be announced as the new film moves farther along in production.
