More and more stars of ‘Game of Thrones’ are branching out into bigger films, the latest actor to jump into a new project from HBO’s hit series is Lena Heady, who will take on a role a Clive Barker inspired horror-film. Producing the film will be Seraphim Films and Raven Banner Entertainment.
The film will be shopped around at Cannes this year, with a production schedule set for 2015 but no release date was given at this time. Variety was one of the first outlets to hear about the casting decision, executive producer Clive Barker told the outlet, “Lena Headey is a marvelous performer with an incredible presence.” Barker added, “As far as I’m concerned, there is no better choice of actress for the role of Jacqueline. Her beauty and authority will carry the day.”
For some history on the original work, “Jacqueline Ess” is the story of a dark woman who earns the power to change people’s physical form. The stories come from an impressive source in the horror genre, The Clive Barker’s “Books of Blood” anthologies. Headey, who plays Cersei Lannister in ‘Game of Thrones,’ was just in ‘300: Rise of an Empire,’ other stars featured in big-budget films include Kit Harington in ‘Pompeii,’ Peter Dinklage in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in ‘The Other Woman’ and Emilia Clarke who will take a lead-role in the new ‘Terminator’ reboot.
Also attached to the film, according to the same report, is Jovanka Vuckovic. This will be her first full-feature directing role, she co-wrote the script with Christian Francis.
