The Amazing Spider-Man swings into $92 million weekend

Sony Pictures’ latest installment to the studios’ coveted Spider-man franchise has roped in $92 million at the box-office, according to the latest Rentrak Figures. The first weekend in May has always been a lucrative time for movies, Rentrak’s Senior Media Analyst Paul Dergarabedian stated that, “Sony’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ swung into theaters worldwide this weekend with an impressive $208 million while breaking records in numerous international territories where it added another $116 million this weekend for a $369 million global total to date.”
 
With the Amazing Spider-Man 2 dominating the weekend, it was the Cameron Diaz picture ‘The Other Woman’ from 20th Century Fox that took second place with $14.2 million. Rounding out third place was Sony’s other picture ‘Heaven is for Real’ with $8.7 million. Dropping out of the top three was the Disney/Marvel installment to the Captain America franchise The Winter Soldier, which brought in $7.8 million this weekend.
