Seth MacFarlane produced comedy coming to Starz, starring Patrick Stewart
Any fan of ‘American Dad’ already knows that Sir Patrick Stewart and Seth MacFarlane work extremely well together, now that magic is transferring to a live-action comedy starring Stewart in the lead role. In the new series, set to premiere on the Starz network, Stewart’s character is a British broadcaster, who comes to the United States to take a job for an American Cable News show.
The series is going by the name ‘Blunt Talk’ and Starz has high hopes for the project, having already ordered two-seasons of the new comedy. The show’s title refers to both the Cable News program and Stewart’s character, his name is Walter Blunt. Starz CEO Chris Albrecht spoke to the press earlier today stating, “In the character of Walter Blunt, Seth, Jonathan and Patrick have found the alchemy that makes a borderline alcoholic, mad-genius-Brit the man you want fighting in America’s corner.”
Albrecht continued by saying, “Seth and Jonathan have struck the right balance between biting wit and outright absurdity in building this world, and we cannot wait for Patrick to breathe life into Walter.” Though the series ended up on Starz, reports indicate that Netflix and Showtime failed to pick up the series when offered.
