Off the market, George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin officially engaged

This weekend rumors and speculation of George Clooney’s engagement took the internet by storm, and after a day of rest, the news has now been made official. Overseas a London law firm confirmed this morning that Oscar-winner Clooney and Amal Alamuddin are now officially engaged. Alamuddin’s firm, friends and colleagues were more than happy it seems to publicly congratulate the couple on their news.

“The barristers and staff of Doughty Street Chambers offer their best wishes and congratulations to Ms. Amal Alamuddin, a member of Chambers, and Mr. George Clooney on their engagement to be married,” the firm said in a public in a statement which was then reported by Reuters after the site crashed from the heavy traffic.

Clooney is now 52, his finance is 36, and the two have been dating since October 2013. Clooney did not release a statement on the matter, but in the past his remarks on marriage haven’t been positive. Clooney was once married, to Talia Balsam briefly from 1989 to 1993. As for Alamuddin, she an incredibly intelligent and successful individual that has yet to be married. Oxford-educated Alamuddin holds a law-degree from New York University and often handles international trials, and high-profile cases. She is bilingual, speaking both Arabic and French, and she also clerked for Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor in the past. The two have yet to speak publicly on the matter, but we wish them the best of luck.
