Warner Bros picks up Amanda Seyfreid for ‘Pan’ with Hugh Jackman
Last we checked in with the upcoming ‘Pan’ film Warner Bros. studio had chosen newcomer Levi Miller as the young Peter Pan. Now we can add Amanda Seyfried to the list as well. Seyfreid, who has a western-comedy with Seth MacFarlane, Charlize Theron and Liam Neeson coming out this summer called ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West,’ will be added as Mary.
Seyfreid joins Hugh Jackman in the big-budget telling of Peter Pan, Jackman will play the pirate Blackbeard; while Garrett Hedlund is set to play a young Hook. Another important role went to Rooney Mara, who is set to play Tiger Lily in this version of the tale. Smaller roles that were confirmed earlier go to Jack Charles, Taejoo Na, Nonso Anozie, Kathy Burke and Kurt Egyiawan.
As for behind the camera, Joe Wright is directing the film, based on a script written by Jason Fuchs and Greg Berlanti. Attached as producers are Paul Webster and Sarah Schechter.
This version of Peter Pan will be an origin story, and one that is different from a few of the classic tales (When Peter Pan never grew up but the boys brought to Neverland didn’t have the same power, Pan would kill the boys when they reached a certain age and Captain Hook was one boy that escaped and grew to hate Peter Pan) and different from the Disney story many know as well. There are countless versions of the iconic Pan to be found, but this film will have Peter Pan when he is young, set during World War 2, and kidnapped by pirates and taken to Neverland where he is helped by Hook to take down Blackbeard.
Fans can see Seyfreid in the western comedy when it releases on May 30, 2014.
