We reported earlier this year that a live-action remake of the classic ‘Jem and the Holograms’ animated series was in the works, and now the band is finally coming together. From “Nashville” actress Aubrey Peeples will take on the role of Jem, the lead-singer of the classic faux-80s rock band. Peeples plays the role of Layla Grant on the hit show.
Other stars that have been added but without confirmed role-titles are Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau and Hayley Kiyoko.
The original animated series was quite the hit on Saturday mornings, this film adaptation will have Jon M. Chu directing, he will also produce alongside Blumhouse Productions and Scooter Braun Productions. Fans should remember the music producer Jerrica Benton, who became Jem onstage and lead her Holograms on exciting adventures on a weekly basis. Ryan Landels penned the script for the adaptation.
