As the Cannes’ film festival slowly approaches, new details of popular young-stars teaming up for indie-films leak out every year. This season Radiant Films will be shopping a new project starring Zooey Deschanel, John Hawkes, Anton Yelchin, Ciaran Hinds and Alia Shawkat. The new film will be a dark-comedy and it’s a film adaptation of the popular Tom Drury novel of the same name.
Unified Pictures and Bron Studios will be behind the production of the new project, onboard to direct is Zachary Sluser who co-wrote the screenplay with the original author Tom Drury. Also attached to the film is CW Media Finance, who will be joining the before mentioned production studios as producers. Executive Producer credit goes to Nicole Romano from Anonymous Content.
Yelchin will star as a young-man who just returned to his hometown to attend the funeral of his late parents. That is when he meets Deschanel’s character, a strange, out-of-place young-woman and one that Yelchin’s character quickly falls for. This match is ill-fated however, as a dangerous criminal (played by Hawkes) quickly comes after the two lovebirds.
Shopping the film internationally will be Mimi Steinbauer’s Radiant Films team. With such a popular cast the film should be easily picked up at the Cannes Film Market. The indie-comedy already has a production date scheduled to begin on May 14.
