It’s been established that when Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly team-up in a comedy that the film has tremendous comedic-potential. The two stars have worked with Adam McKay in the past to bring ‘Step Brothers’ and ‘Talladega Nights’ to the big screen, and now a third film could be the property of Sony Pictures if everything goes according to plan.
According to the latest reports, Sony Pictures has finished negotiations to have Jesse Armstrong write a new comedy starring the duo called ‘Border Guards.’
The comedy will have McKay directing, and as you should expect by now, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly will play two over-zealous agents patrolling the Border between America and Mexico, all under the hope of stopping illegal immigrants from crossing over.
Here’s the twist, while hoping to provide an unstoppable force at the border, the two accidently end up in Mexico without the proper paperwork to get home, so now they too must jump the border to get back safely into the United States.
Deadline was the first to break the news on the Sony Pictures’ deal, which will have Gary Sanchez Productions financing the film. Will Ferrell is also putting together a remake of ‘The Battle of the Sexes’ which will be a comedy on the famous tennis match in the 1970s called ‘Match Maker’.
