Sid Meier’s Civilization Beyond Earth announced at PAX with new video

Any new title from the Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise is going to make some noise, but this year it’s leaving the stratosphere. The new title ‘Sid Meier’s Civilization Beyond Earth’ was confirmed earlier today at a panel at PAX East in Boston when Firaxis introduced the video that you see below.
It may be confusing but this is not an Alpha Centauri sequel. Well it basically could be, but Fireaxis can’t use that name without partnering with EA. So minus the name you can expect the sci-fi strategy game that they fans have been asking for time and time again.
So who’s heading up this project? Firaxis’ Will Miller told the crowd, “The heart and soul lives at Firaxis. For all the fans of Alpha Centauri, this is the game we’ve made for you.”
“The biggest systematic change for Civ 5 is that tech is a web, not a tree,” David McDonough, co-lead on the title explained to fans and media. “By the end of the game you’ve got 70 percent of the web.” So expect to fight with different tech this time around, not just better or outdated.

More information will be introduced at a later date but you can expect to see the game this fall 2014.
