Disney signs Booboo Stewart as Jafar’s son Jay in ‘Descendants’
Another casting decision has been made for the upcoming Disney Channel film ‘Descendants,’ the part of Jafar’s son will go to Booboo Stewart. Twilight fans should remember Booboo from his work in the popular films, now the young actor will move to a Disney produced title when ‘Descendants’ kicks off in 2015.
The film will focus on the children of popular Disney villains and heroes, who all attend the same school and must deal with growing up in the shadows of their popular parents. Other castings went to Dove Cameron and Mitchell Hope, the film is being directed by the “High School Musical” leader Kenny Ortega.
Stewart will take the part of ‘Jay’ and although the film borrows from popular Disney themes, it will be a modern story taking place in the Iidyllic kingdom. In the story a young man (Ben played by Mitchell Hope) is preparing to live his life as ruler of the kingdom, he is the son of the current King and Queen (the ruling family is Beast and Belle).
Once held-capture and detained, Ben frees the children of Cruella De Vil (Carlos), Maleficent (Mal, played by Dove Cameron), the Evil Queen (Evvie) and Jafar’s son Jay. Once held as punishment, these villains, their children and henchman are let go by the soon-to-be-king as a sign of good faith. The film is set to be released in 2015.
