New Zealand’s hottest solo artist and the four-person music-sensation ‘Imagine Dragons’ lead the way in nominations for this year’s Billboard Music Awards. The finalists were announced early Wednesday morning, the award-show honors musicians in all music-genres, stemming from 40 different musical categories. Both Lorde and Imagine Dragons have earned 12 nominations including the coveted title of breakthrough record, Imagine Dragons with “Night Visions” and Lorde’s album “Pure Heroine.”
The groups and solo-artists that took 11 categories this year are Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake. The country-music star to watch this year is Luke Bryan, he is listed in seven different categories this year. This is the first time that Lorde has been nominated, other first-timers include Avicii, Capital Cities, Zedd and Sidewalk Prophet.
If you follow the Billboard’s Milestone Award, then there are six finalists you will want to keep your eyes on including the lovely and popular Ellie Goulding, OneRepublic, Bryan, John Legend and again Imagine Dragons. The Billboard Music Awards will air live on May 18 at 8 p.m. ET from The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
