Earlier this year LucasFilm confirmed that the lovable robot, and constant trouble-finder, R2D2 would be returning for ‘Star Wars Episode VII.’ Now new details will allow you to add Chewbacca to that list as well. The project began filming this month and although many of the roles and plot details are still under lock and key, Chewbacca is the latest cast-member reported top return to the franchise.
Trade reported that Peter Mayhew, the original actor of Chewbacca, will once again play the furry sidekick to Han Sole in “Episode VII.” Although other stars have talked about coming back to the series, this is the first official return for the key-roles other than R2D2.
The unofficial cast that is expected to come back to the franchise for their roles are Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford. Disney has not gone on record for the three stars but members like Fisher haven’t been quiet about their return. The latest new casting announcement came when Adam Driver was rumored to take on the role of a villain, getting praise from Girls’ star Leeam Dunnam om Twitter. Lupita Nyong’o from ’12 Years a Slave’ is also the leading rumor for a lead riole.
“Star Wars: Episode VII” is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
