Lancôme’s newest face is Lupita Nyong’o

Hot off her Academy Award winning performance in ’12 Years a Slave,’ Lancôme has chosen 31 year-old actor Lupita Nyong’o as their latest sponsor. This marks the very first major endorsement ad-campaign for the actor, who confirmed her partnership with the French brand earlier today.

The announcement also marks a milestone for the company as well, Lupita Nyong’o is also the first black sponsor for the company, which was founded in 1935. “I am truly honored to join the Maison Lancôme, a brand with such a prestigious history that I have always loved. I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman’s freedom to be herself,” Nyong’o said in a statement sent to the press.

Nyong’o won her first Oscar, also the first she was nominated for, back in March. Other popular award-winners that have donned the ambassador program for the company include Penelope Cruz and Kate Winslet, as well as America’s sweetheart Julia Roberts. You can expect to see the ads start pooping up around the world in the summer of 2014.
