Another Game of Thrones star joins Hunger Games Mockingjay, Gwendoline Christi is Commander Lyme
It looks like Natalie Dormer will have a friend on the set of The Hunger Games, ‘Game of Thrones’ star Gwendoline Christi has been signed on to the Lionsgate tentpole. In ‘Game of Thrones’ Christi plays the stoic Brienne of Tarth, and has been a favorite character on the show for many.
Now Lionsgate has signed Christi to play the role of Commander Lyme in ‘The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2’. Originally the role went to Lily Rabe, who had to drop the role because of a scheduling conflict. Rabe will be taking part instead, in the long-standing tradition of “Much Ado about Nothing” in Shakespeare in the Park. The new role should be easy for Christi to take on, Lyne is one of the prominent leaders within the secretive and destroyed District 13. The character of Lyne was once herself a winner of a previous Hunger Games match, at the time she was from District 2.
More information and details regarding casting and trailers will be made available as the film gets further along in production.
