“The Grudge” is getting rebooted, a new cast and a fresh look
Horror fans can look forward to a new “Grudge” series, the popular franchise will be starting anew thanks to Sam Raimi and his Ghost House Pictures.
Along with the Ghost House the film will receive support from Good Universe, with Raimi, Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise producing the film. Attached to executive produce are Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane.
As for the script, a new origin story and setting will be created by Jeff Buhler. It has been ten-years (no really, ten years) sine the original horror film was remade for the U.S. starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Of course most horror fans know that the film was a westernized version of the Japanese horror film “Ju-on” but Takashi Shimizu directed both versions so not too much was lost in the translation.
Since 2004 Sony created “The Grudge 2″ back in 2006 and “The Grudge 3″ was released in 2009.
