Late Tuesday evening stars of the YA series “Divergent” hit the red-carpet to premiere the first installment of the franchise. For the past few weeks stars like Shailene Woodley, Kate Winsley and Ashley Judd have been promoting the film on various talk shows to make way for the big premiere.
As for the film itself, the story takes place in a dystopian future, where people are divided into distinct factions based on human virtues. Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy by a faction leader (Kate Winslet) to destroy all Divergents, Tris must learn to trust in the mysterious Four (Theo James) and together they must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late. Based on the best-selling book series by Veronica Roth.
Starring along Shailene Woodley in the film are Theo James, Ashley Judd, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoë Kravitz, Miles Teller, Tony Goldwyn, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Christian Madsen, Amy Newbold And Kate Winslet in one of her most ‘evil’ roles to date.
The film was directed by Neil Burger and produced by Douglas Wick, Lucy Fisher and Pouya Shahbazian, with John J. Kelly and Rachel Shane on board as executive producers.
Fans will get to see the film when it releases on March 21, 2014.
