A new deal confirmed over the weekend gave Lionsgate the U.S. distribution rights for a new indie-comedy starring Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg called ‘American Ultra’. The $7 million deal is the latest project confirmed for Lionsgate, a studio that has been unstoppable at the YA box-office for the last few years.
In the film Eisenberg and Stewart will play a young-couple living out their life in a small-town. Their normal dull-lives are interrupted however when an incident from Eisenberg’s past makes him the target of a large government conspiracy and puts him in danger.
This will be the second film that Stewart and Eisenberg have been featured in together, five years ago the duo starred in the film “Adventureland” from Greg Mottola. Producing the film are Anthony Bregman, David Alpert and Britton Rizzio. Kevin Frakes and Raj Brinder Singh have been attached as executive producers.
Over the past few years Stewart has been taking on quite a few roles, “On the Road” and “Snow White and the Huntsman” were two of the larger projects that she was featured in, but “Camp X-Ray,” was quite a hit last January at Sundance, the military drama featured Stewart as the leading role.
Eisenberg is coming off “Now You See Me” but recently made headlines when he was confirmed as Lex Luthor in Warner Bros.’ upcoming Superman vs. Batman feature.
