Harold Ramis, Egon of Ghostbusters, passes away at 69
In a sad turn of events Harold Ramis, the star of such beloved comedies as Ghostbusters and Stripes, has passed away at the early age of 69.
Harold Ramis was best known for his work as Egon Spengler on Ghostbusters, or perhaps as Russell Ziskey in Stripes but he has been in dozens of classics, and has directed and/written even more.
Ramis was also the writer/director for two of Bill Murray’s beloved films, “Caddyshack” and “Groundhog Day.” According to reports Ramis passed away earlier today (Monday) from an ongoing illness that he has battled for the last four years.
That disease is known as auto-immune inflammatory vasculitis, he was only 69 when he passed away. Ramis was surrounded by both friends and his family in Chicago, a place that he has called home with his wife since they moved to the city in 1996.
