The console war of the “next-gen” consoles is still too close to call, with Microsoft and Sony still trying to outperform and outsell one another in the first year since launch. This is by no means the first console war gaming has seen.
Now Sony Pictures will move forward with a Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg directed film of the business thriller named “Console War.” The film will have Scott Rudin producing the project. Sony Pictures acquired the rights to the picture from Atlantic Books, the novel offers a look into the battleground of when SEGA decided to take on Nintendo in the early 1990s. The novel was written by Blake Harris.
Atlantic will still publish “Console Wars: Sega, Nintendo and the Battle that Defined a Generation” in August 2014. Fans of Rogen and/or Goldberg might remember their latest project together, “This Is the End,” which also came through Sony Pictures. The directing team will also write the script for the film.
