FOX casts Ugly Betty’s Becki Newton in new Comedy Series ‘Weird Loners’
There just hasn’t been enough Becki Newton on TV lately and FOX is going to fix that. The popular actor was one of the stars of ‘Ugly Betty’ and will now get her own series on the network called ‘Weird Loners’.
The comedy series is set for a six-episode test-run so far, the show will be another single-camera ensemble comedy. The show was written by Michael Weithorn, Jake Kasdan will direct for series and it will fall under FOX 20th TV.
As of right now the new comedy-series will center around four individuals, all with relationship-issues and desire to be alone. The others that will join Newton are Zachary Knighton and Nate Torrence, the fourth hasn’t been cast at this point. After unforeseen circumstances force this foursome into living with one another, they create a special bond and the series continues. The set will be a townhouse in Queens, NY.
Let’s talk character, so far we know about Caryn (played by Newton) a neurotic single-woman who is a dental hygienist during the day, who has the unfortunate habit of falling too fast with men she is dating, causing them to end.
Newton is coming off The Goodwin Games, but is best known for her work on Ugly Betty or her stint on How I Met Your Mother. The show doesn’t have a premiere date at this time.
