Earlier this year we reported that Disney will release an English version of the Hayao Miyazaki film ‘The Wind Rises’. Miyazaki, best known as the creator of ‘Princess Mononoke’ and ‘Spritied Away’, released the film just before announcing his retirement. The film stars, among others, Levitt and Blunt who bring the characters to life and talk about their characters and the film in these interviews.
‘The Wind Rises’ centers on Jiro Horikoshi, a man who designed Japanese fighter planes during World War II, and you start seeing the connections in the trailer almost immediately (the name should make a little more sense now as well).

With ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’, and ‘Princess Monoke’ doing incredibly well in the past; it was ‘Spirited Away’ that won the honor of being the first anime film to win an Oscar. This is expected to be Miyazaki final film, a dedicated piece to the incredible fighter plane, the creation of the ‘Mitsubishi A6M Zero’. Used in World War II it is still considered to be a marvelous example of industrial design in the field of aviation.
The film was already released in Japan back in July, but a U.S. version is coming this February 21 to North America.
