Walking Dead topples Pretty Little Liars Twitter reign
This week’s dramatic episode of ‘The Walking Dead’ saw the series’ fans beat out ABC Family’s popular series ‘Pretty Little Liars’. The ABC hit series has been dominating the social-media charts for the past several weeks, finally giving way to AMC’s popular undead series in a surprising upset.
We’ve reported in the past that ‘Pretty Little Liars’ has seen amazing success on Twitter, with the network interacting with fans and creating new and unique ways to get the show to trend on Twitter. That being said it doesn’t always translate into ratings. The ABC spinoff of PLL was the show ‘Ravenswood’ which saw an equally impressive showing on Twitter rankings week to week from fans, but the show was canceled just last week because of low-ratings.
Unfortunately for ABC, the fan interaction was not enough to compete with the shocking twists and dramatic happenings on ‘The Walking Dead’, which saw an unprecedented amount of Tweets and impressions for the show, outside of the traditional premiere or finale.
According to the official Nielsen Twitter Ratings, ‘The Walking Dead’ took the number one spot last week, with ‘Pretty Little Liars’ taking the second slot, followed by ‘The Bachelor’ at number three and MTV’s ‘Teen Wolf’ at number four.
Filling out the top-ten was the BBC America event ‘The EE British Academy Film Awards 2014’ at number five, E!’s ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ at number six and the FOX’s ‘American Idol’ at number seven.
The bottom three this week, but still making the Top 10, were the ‘138th Westminster Kennel Club Dog’ Show at number eight, ‘WWE Monday Night RAW’ at number nine and VH1’s ‘Love & Hip Hop’ taking the tenth spot.
