Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film details sneak out of Toy Fair
If you are attending the Toy Fair in New York this weekend then you are in for a few special treats regarding a certain Turtle film releasing later this year. Although the Toy Fair has a strict ‘no photos’ policy as we walk around the booths, we can report on a few of the better details that haven’t been announced for TMNT.
The film featured at the event is Michael Bay’s ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ reboot, staring Megan Fox as April O’Neil. Over the next few months there will be three LEGO sets released for the film, as well as a new line of action-figures and a Playmates set. A Turtles’ vehicle, and a secretive female villain with a bright-red streak in her hair sat alongside the Megan Fox April O’Neil character at the booth’s, both of which will be shown in the film.
Ooze was a big part of the TMNT storyline, and LEGO is bringing the ooze. It was featured in a playlet for a TMNT truck vehicle, a canister of the mutant creating toxin can be tossed out of the TMNT vehicle to escape any chasing foot-clan.
As for the film, it will simply be called “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” not Ninja Turtles as previously reported by a few online-magazines. At the fair there were figures for all four turtles, including April, Shredder and Splinter. We mentioned the foot-clan earlier, and they will also appear in the film.
If you were a fan of the comics or the cartoon-series, then you may be wondering about the Turtle Assault Van that Donatello rigs to be their mobile foot-stomping base. That will also be in the movie, and there are a few toys that show off the new machine. Images will be released later on this year (officially released).
The film itself “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” will premiere in theaters on August 8.
