Last year’s terrifying look into the future of security was a great success for Universal, and now the sequel to the The Purge will be called ‘The Purge: Anarchy’. Universal studios released the first teaser trailer for the popular series earlier today.
Fans of the first installment should be happy to know that James DeMonaco will be returning to the series to write and direct film. Shooting has actually already begun in L.A., and the film is on track to release later this year.
Blumhouse, who is producing the film along with Michael Bay’s production company, filed with Universal due to the “first look” deal that was already established with the studio. Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey starred in the original thriller, taking in $89 million in global box office sales, not bad for a film that only cost $3 million.

The new film, which you can still call Purge 2 if you like, stars Frank Grillo and will be released on June 20, 2014.
