CW adds Tom Cavanagh to ‘The Flash’
The CW spinoff series of ‘Arrow,’ a new superhero series with fast-moving ‘Flash’ has added another character to the roster. Former star of ‘Royal Pains’ and ‘Ed’, Tom Cavanagh will join the series as a genius physicist who helps Barry Allen with his new found abilities.
The CW already confirmed the major roles in the series, with former Glee actor Grant Gustin taking the tile character of Barry Allen/The Flash in the pilot episode. The Flash received an intro through ‘Arrow’ with a two-part winter finale that aired back in December.
The Flash’s home is Central City, where Barry was an assistant police forensic investigator, now Allen arrives in Starling City looking into unexplained robberies that he believes may be connected to events that happened in his past.
Back to Cavanagh, he will take the charismatic and often times charming character of Harrison Wells, an esteemed Physicist, though his methods are considered to be a tad unorthodox. Cavanagh has a connection to Central City as well and an even broader attachment to one of the iconic buildings of the DC Universe, S.T.A.R. Labs. It’s here that Cavanagh is blamed for destroying the Particle Accelerator, a first-though disaster but the catalyst for the fastest man alive’s origin story.
Other cast members include Jesse L. Martin as Detective West; Candice Patton took the role of West’s daughter Iris; Danielle Panabaker will play Caitlin Snow, and Rick Cosnett as Detective Eddie Thawne.
