A lot of news from the Lionsgate camp as the studio moves aways from the original film ‘Divergent’ and starts to focus on the sequel. The studio confirmed that the new installment is set to begin production in May. The new YA franchise is set to kick off in early Spring 2014, with Shailene Woodley starring in the lead-role.
The company handling production is Red Wagon Entertainment, the confirmation of the start date came as the announcement for Nicki Cortese as VP of film and TV was announced. She’s served in the same slot at Akiva Goldsman’s Weed Road Pictures for the past five years.
The studio released a new trailer for Divergent, that film is still scheduled to premiere on March 21, 2014. Just twelve months later, on March 20, 2015, fans will be lining up for the sequel named ‘Insurgent’.
