Lionsgate comments on Philip Seymour Hoffman’s role in Hunger Games Mockingjay
Although the postponement of a film’s conclusion pales in comparison to the death of a talented actor, Lionsgate was still obligated to confirm the movie’s schedule to investors and fans. The death of Philip Seymour Hoffman was sudden, the actor found dead in his New York apartment, and the exact cause of death won’t be known for some time.
The actor recently joined the franchise, his first appearance was in the recently released ‘The Hunger Games Catching Fire’ installment, and he is set to appear in the following release as well. Hoffman’s role in the franchise was of game master Plutarch Heavensbee.
According to the official response to the actor’s seat, Lionsgate stated that the majority of Hoffman’s scenes have already been completed, there were only sevens cents left to shoot on “Mockingjay — Part 2.” The next installment will be ‘Mockingjay Part 1’.
All of the remaining release dates (November 21 and Nov. 20, 2015) will not be affected or changed because of the death according to Lionsgate.
The studio made the confirmation earlier today stating, “Philip Seymour Hoffman was a singular talent and one of the most gifted actors of our generation. We’re very fortunate that he graced our Hunger Games family. Losing him in his prime is a tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Philip’s family.”
