Marvel moves Paul Rudd’s ‘Ant Man’ up two-weeks in July 2015
As Super-Hero movies continue to dominate the box-office, studios continue to shuffle their premiere dates to compete with one another. Just a few week’s after Warner Brothers announced that ‘Man of Steel 2’ will move from July 2015 to May 2016, Disney has announced that Marvel’s ‘Ant Man’ will now move to July 17, 2015 to fill that Super-Hero void.
Warner Bros. made the confirmation earlier this month, so that “Pan” could have the coveted July 2015 release date, meaning that ‘Ant Man’ and ‘Pan’ will now face-off as summer blockbusters. When it was first announced, Ant-Man was set to premier on July 31, 2015, it will now premiere two-weeks earlier now that it no longer has to compete with the Man of Steel sequel.
While news on Ant Man is still vague at best, Pan is shaping up with Garrett Hedlund as Captain Hook, with Hugh Jackman in negotiations to play Blackbeard the pirate.
As of right now Paul Rudd has been cast to play Ant Man himself, with Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym the creator of the shrinking technology.
