Garrett Hedlund is set to play Captain Hook in new Pan film
The last we heard of Warner Bros. new “Pan” film was that it took the original release date for “Man of Steel 2,” now we have learned who will play the role of Captain Hook. The studio confirmed this week that Garrett Hedlund has agreed to take on the role of the infamous pirate, with Hugh Jackman still in negotiations to play the film’s antagonist, Blackbeard the pirate.
The studio has yet to pick the role of Pan, inside sources indicate that the role will go to a new, or relatively new actor between the ages of 10 to 13 years old. The film has been picking up a few headlines since it was first announced last year. The new Peter Pan adventure will be directed by Joe Wright from a screenplay by Jason Fuchs, incorporating J.M. Barrie’s classic characters. The film is being produced by Greg Berlanti and Paul Webster.
We know that the time-frame will stay in World War II, though this time we follow Peter Pan’s life when he is first kidnapped by pirates and goes to Neverland for the first time. The land is being ruled by Blackbeard the pirate, and Captain Hook will be a friend of Peter’s and showing him the ropes.
The film is scheduled to release on July 17, 2015.
