Michael Cera, John Hawkes join new FX Comedy ‘How and Why’
Michael Cera is getting back to his roots and he’s doing so with Oscar nominated actor John Hawkes (Deadwood). The two will star in a new FX comedy that is set to begin filming in a few weeks. Michael Cera’s career began in television, when he joined the gang at ‘Arrested Development,” he will now co-star with Hawkes in the new half-hour comedy.
Hawkes is set to play Goodman Heselman, he is the host of small-town television show who is being replaced by a younger talent form a nearby town. Cera is set to join the show as Heselman’s new boss. The network describes the series as, “The story of a man who can explain how and why a nuclear reactor works, but is clueless about life.”
Academy Award winner Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) wrote and directed the pilot episode. Kaufman will stay on as an executive producer, along with Anthony Bregman. There is no premiere date set but the project will begin filming in the spring of 2014.
