Young Adult novelist Ned Vizzini dead at 32

Ned-Vizzini-and-book-coverSeveral reports have confirmed that the 32 year-old young-adult author, Ned Vizzini, who wrote the popular novel ‘It’s Kind of a Funny Story’, has died. According to the reports the author’s dead is being ruled a suicide.
 
Fans know Ned Vizzini as a young author born in Brooklyn, New York; who often times spoke of teens and young adults with mental illness and depression. Vizzini also wrote ‘Be More Chill,’ and ‘The Other Normals’, and even wrote the script to several episodes of the MTV drama Teen Wolf.
 
One of the earliest confirmations came from Shawn Ryan, a fellow screen writer and TV producer that had worked with Vizzini in the past stating, “Devastated to report that Last Resort (and many other things) writer @ned_vizzini has passed away. He had a way of making me smile.”
 
Vizzini often times spoke of suicide in his public works, it’s a recurring theme in the book ‘It’s Kind of a Funny Story’ and a motivation in the book for the lead character to enter help. Vizzini stated in the past, that it was based on his own experience of calling a suicide hotline (this was back in 2004).
 
Do to the nature of the death, and to respect the family of friends of Vizzini, we will not be updating with any new details on the death itself.
 
Vizzini is survived by his wife and 2-year-old son.
